Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Hwang Hee-Chan is facing ‘a number of weeks’ on the sidelines with injury, according to journalist Liam Keen.

The Lowdown: Immediate concerns

The Old Gold secured an outstanding 3-0 victory over Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, but there was one negative which slightly dampened the spirits at Molineux.

The South Korean had to be substituted shortly before the break after sustaining a hamstring injury, and an update on his situation which supporters won’t want to hear has now emerged.

The Latest: Hwang update

Taking to Twitter, Keen relayed an update on Hwang from Julen Lopetegui’s post-match interview, with the manager confirming that his forward is set to be out of action for the foreseeable.

“Julen Lopetegui is delighted with the result and performance, but urges his Wolves side to stay grounded with big games yet to come.

“He also expects Hwang to be sidelined for a number of weeks through injury.”

The Verdict: Gutting

Hwang has become a regular feature for Wolves under Lopetegui, having made nine appearances in all competitions under the new boss, so it’ll be a huge blow to lose his services.

The 27-year-old has made ten goal contributions since arriving in the Midlands and is a useful player to have available, with the versatility to operate on both flanks and also at centre-forward meaning the gaffer can effectively chop and change the other options around Hwang as much as he wants (Transfermarkt).

Wanderers still have Sasa Kalajdzic sidelined, meaning they will have to rely on the likes of Raul Jimenez and Diego Costa to step up alongside Matheus Cunha until the injured players stage their much-awaited comeback.
