Wolverhampton Wanderers' new manager Julen Lopetegui could be ‘watching from the stands’ for their Premier League game against Arsenal next weekend, according to journalist Tom Collomosse.

The Lowdown: Lopetegui named new Wolves manager

Fosun were rejected twice in their search to find Bruno Lage’s successor, and despite the club previously stating that Steve Davis would remain in charge until 2023, the Spaniard was announced as the Old Gold’s new boss on Saturday.

The Midlands outfit shared in the statement that the 56-year-old’s first day of coaching with the squad will be next Monday (November 14), which marks the start of the break for the World Cup, although he could now arrive at Molineux earlier than originally mooted.

The Latest: Collomosse’s claim on Lopetegui

Taking to Twitter, Collomosse claimed that Lopetegui wasn’t meant to land in England until the day after the Arsenal match ahead of training the following day, but Wolves are now considering bringing him in earlier in order for him to watch Saturday's game at Molineux first-hand.

The Daily Mail reporter stated: “Original date for Lopetegui arrival in England was November 13 but both he and Wolves now looking at whether he could be at Molineux for Arsenal game, watching from the stands.”

The Verdict: Perfect for Wolves

Wolves have only managed to score eight goals from their opening 14 games, fewer than anybody else in the league, but Lopetegui is known for his 4-3-3 attacking formation which makes him the perfect man to come in and improve the team in the final third.

The 56-year-old has lost just 67 of his 368 career matches in charge (winning 221 and drawing 80), averaging 2.02 points per game (Transfermarkt).

Having guided Sevilla to Europa League success in 2020, Lopetegui will know what it takes to bring consistency and success to a club, with Wolves hoping that their fortunes will change under his watch for the remainder of the season ahead.
