Wolves and Julen Lopetegui are eyeing a move for World Cup 'hero' Yassine Bounou, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Lopetegui era begins...

The Premier League strugglers, after sacking ex-boss Bruno Lage, have turned to experienced European coach Lopetegui as a solution to their current woes.

Wolves' 2022/2023 record thus far doesn't make for pretty reading, having scored fewer goals than any side in the English top flight whilst losing the joint-most games.

The Molineux side may look to January as a solution with reports suggesting Lopetegui could turn to La Liga, a division he knows very well.

The Latest: Wolves eye Bounou move...

Wolves are already attempting moves for Matheus Cunha and Felipe, as stated by Lopetegui himself, but now Bounou is also reportedly attracting their attention.

Vamos Mi Sevilla claim that the Morocco international, who is currently enjoying a 'spectacular' World Cup campaign with the African side, is apparently being closely followed by Wolves.

Amid this interest, his club Sevilla have set a €30 million (£26m) price tag, with the Qatar star currently 'astonishing the world'.

The Verdict: Right man?

£26m is a fairly expected price for a goalkeeper currently in the form of his life who has even been called a 'national hero' for his Last 16 performance against Spain.

The 31-year-old could be a brilliant capture for Lopetegui and Wolves based on his form for Sevilla and Morocco, as they also seek to shore up a leaky backline as well as add some goalscoring firepower.

Whether or not it would be worth splashing this sort of cash when Jose Sa is far from the biggest problem in the squad is open for debate, but you'd struggle to find a more confident shot-stopper in world football right now than Bounou.
