Wolves: Mark Lawrenson fears the worst for Wolves and their trip to Leeds

Wolves: Mark Lawrenson fears the worst for Wolves and their trip to Leeds - Wolves News

Wolves face a challenging test on Monday as they face Leeds United at Elland Road, and Mark Lawrenson believes they will struggle.

Lawrenson not confident for Nuno

The West Midlands outfit have had a tricky start to the new campaign. Despite their opening day victory against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been unable to capitalise on it, losing three straight games in all competitions before beating Fulham, as per Fotmob.

Wolves find themselves 13th in the table with just six points from their first four games, hoping that they can capitalise from just missing out on Europa League football at the end of last season.

Who is Wolves' PL top goal scorer?

Although Marcelo Bielsa’s team are the new boys of the top flight, the North Yorkshire outfit have been hailed for some of their early-season performances.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Match of the Day pundit Lawrenson favours the hosts: “Wolves have been a bit up and down so far and this will be another tough test for them,” he said.

“Leeds were impressive again in their draw with Manchester City, and their attacking outlook is going to win them a lot of fans.”

Lawrenson went on to predict that Leeds will get the better of Wolves 2-1.

Huge chance to send a message

Lawrenson is right – Leeds look very impressive. But this is a huge opportunity for Wolves to show the rest of the league what they are made of, and that they are still one of the top teams in the Premier League.

Nuno’s team have a solid record against the Whites, winning the last three straight meetings and have only conceded one goal in the process. The Portuguese tactician will take some confidence from this but will understand that it’s a much better team they are facing on Monday.

While there will be an element of nervousness from the Molineux faithful, it will be a huge boost if their team can secure all three points at the first time of asking after the international break.

Leeds are not a team to be taken lightly and Nuno will be fully aware of that. It will be interesting to see what sort of performance the visitors put in.
