Wolverhampton Wanderers are now interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, according to a new report.

The Lowdown: Wolves' attacking woes

Wolves are currently bottom of the Premier League table, and much of this can be put down to a very poor record in front of goal, creating just 15 big chances all season, making them the joint-second worst team in this area in the entire division.

A return of just eight goals up to this point ranks the Old Gold as having the worst attacking output, and manager Julen Lopetegui is tasked with turning this around if he has any chance of steering them out of the relegation zone.

As such, Lopetegui now appears to be considering an outlandish offer for Dembele, who is currently flourishing in La Liga with Barcelona...

The Latest: Lopetegui eyes Dembele

According to Spanish journalist Gabriel Sans, Wolves are one of three English clubs interested in the Frenchman, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur both named as other potential suitors, while Paris Saint-Germain headline the interested parties from abroad.

The report states that the 25-year-old's release clause will drop from £87.5m to £44m in the summer, paving the way for a move away from Camp Nou, although his current employers have no intention of selling him and believe they can tie him down for longer.

The Verdict: Amazing if possible

Given the fact that the other teams interested in the speedster have all currently got Champions League football to offer, it appears unlikely that the Old Gold will be able to compete for his signature.

However, if it becomes a possibility then Fosun should not hesitate, as the 35-time France international, dubbed a 'phenomenon' by none other than Lionel Messi, is a level above the attacking options available at Molineux currently.

Former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu once even hailed Dembele as being 'better than Neymar', and he has impressed considerably over the past year, averaging 0.63 assists per 90 minutes, a figure that places him in the 98th percentile compared to his positional peers.

It would be an extraordinary acquisition if Lopetegui was able to tempt the former Rennes man, but unfortunately it seems to be a transfer that does not have much chance of coming to fruition.
