There is still the slim possibility of Wolves winger Adama Traore signing a new contract instead of leaving in 2023, according to reliable journalist Liam Keen.

The Lowdown: Traore out of favour

The 26-year-old has struggled to fully convince Bruno Lage during his time as manager, being loaned out to Barcelona midway through last season.

Traore is now back at Wolves after his brief spell in La Liga ended but he has only appeared for just 47 minutes of Premier League action in his side's opening five matches.

The Spaniard's current deal expires at the end of this season, but as is the case with Ruben Neves after a new update, his Molineux stay could be extended.

The Latest: New deal not out of the question

Writing on Twitter on Saturday, The Express & Star's Keen admitted that a new deal isn't necessarily likely but isn't out of the question either, should Traore impress:

"At this stage it's unlikely Wolves and Adama Traore will agree a new deal, however Bruno Lage has offered a glimmer of hope. He says the next two months will be important and he has to show what he can offer."

The Verdict: Positives and negatives

Traore is a divisive player who has blown hot-and-cold in a Wolves shirt, so there are clear positives and negatives when it comes to him signing a new contract.

On the plus side, the Spain international is a hugely unique and dangerous player who has been hailed as 'undefendable' by Jurgen Klopp, with his speed impossible to cope with on occasions.

That being said, a lack of end product continues to be Traore's undoing  - 12 goals and 18 assists in 158 Wolves appearances is a disappointing haul - which is surely part of the reason why Lage has played him so sporadically since taking charge.

It will be interesting to see how he performs in the new few months - if he knuckles down and finds more consistency in his game, more Wanderers fans may get behind the idea of a new deal.
