Wolves are interested in making a move for Italy international Andrea Belotti in the summer transfer window.
The Lowdown: Wolves eyeing up a striker
Bruno Lage is in need of a new striker after the injury to Raul Jimenez, with the Mexican expected to miss a chunk of the season heading towards the autumn.
Now, it looks as though a new target could be the focus of Wanderers’ attention.
The Latest: Belotti rumour emerges
The fact that the 28-year-old is ‘only waiting for the decisive call’ from Roma is a setback for Wanderers, though, suggesting that his heart could be set on a move there.
The Verdict: Exciting target, but unlikely
For Wolves to be linked with a player of such pedigree is exciting, with Belotti winning Euro 2020 with Italy last season and racking up 113 goals in 251 appearances for Torino – all in all he’s smashed in 155 goals for club and country throughout his career.
The Italian has been described as ‘unique’ by former manager Davide Nicola and is someone who could come in and lead the line superbly for Lage’s men given his physicality, ranking in 86th percentile across Europe for aerial duels won.
That being said, Roma look likely to scupper the move, with the lure of playing under Jose Mourinho and remaining in Italy possibly too good to turn down.
