Wolves are set to complete the last-gasp signing of Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore, reliable journalist John Percy has confirmed.

The Lowdown: Traore expected to join

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move to Molineux throughout the summer transfer window, as Bruno Lage looks to bolster his midfield options.

On Thursday afternoon, a fresh rumour suggested that Traore's move to Wolves was progressing nicely, with some hope that a deal would be struck in time.

Now, Wanderers fans appear to have got their wish, just in the nick of time.

The Latest: Transfer almost done

Writing on Twitter on Thursday night, Percy confirmed that Traore would become a Wolves player before the cutoff, as they seal some late business:

"#Wolves are signing Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore. Season long loan with an €11m option. Wolves officials flew out this afternoon and Traore will be undergoing a medical shortly. #wwfc owners Fosun were under scrutiny a few weeks ago but this has been an excellent window tbf."

The Verdict: Great signing by Wolves

Traore looks like a hugely exciting long-term prospect, having already made 33 appearances for Metz despite his young age, proving to be an effective player in front of the defence.

The Malian averaged 1.6 tackles per game in Ligue 1 last season, impressing despite Metz's relegation, with an 83.1% pass completion rate also highlighting his ball retention skills.

It may be that Traore is eased in to begin with, but having plenty of options is essential for Bruno Lage, allowing him to keep players fresh throughout what is sure to be a hectic campaign.
