A number of potential managers have 'been studied' by Wolves as replacements for the departed Bruno Lage, reliable journalist David Ornstein has claimed.

The 46-year-old's time as manager at Molineux came to an end on Sunday, with confirmation of his sacking emerging after the previous day's 2-0 defeat at West Ham in the Premier League.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday in sharing a corresponding article for The Athletic, Ornstein confirmed that the search for Lage's successor has been ongoing for some time:
"Bruno Lage sacked as Wolves head coach. Expectation was it would happen early next week but with fan sentiment clear & decision made, 46yo informed this afternoon he’ll be going. Potential successors have been studied for some time."

The Verdict: Choose wisely
The revelation that Wolves have been eyeing up replacements for a while would suggest that Lage was doomed even before Saturday's defeat in east London, with the Old Gold struggling massively so far this season.
It is crucial now that the decision over his successor isn't rushed, with the right man needing to come in and get far more out of a group of players who finished in the top half of the Premier League just a few months ago.

A more attack-minded manager than Lage would be preferable, with too many dour matches on show during his era (Wolves scored just 41 times in his 46 league games in charge), and attacking players arguably not used well enough.
