A fresh report has emerged from Spain regarding Wolves' interest in Argentina international Marcos Acuna, with the Premier League club still eyeing up a potential move for him.

The Lowdown: Wolves linked with Acuna

The 31-year-old is currently on World Cup duty with Argentina, starting their previous two matches and appearing in all three of their group games.

Acuna has been linked with a move to Wolves in recent days, with Julen Lopetegui possibly looking to raid his former club Sevilla for one of their players.

It looks as though their keenness to sign him is genuine, with a new update now doing the rounds.

The Latest: Wolves 'very aware' of Acuna

According to a report from Spain [via Sport Witness], Wolves are one of the clubs who are 'interested' in making a move for Acuna in the January transfer window, with Sevilla informing the player that he is no longer needed and duly inviting prospective suitors to come in.

His versatility as a player has made the Old Gold 'very aware' of him, with the Argentine classified as a left-back but also capable of playing anywhere in defence or midfield and even as a left winger (Transfermarkt).

The Verdict: Strong, experienced option

At 31, Acuna may not represent the future at Wolves, but he is someone with a wealth of experience who could be a strong prospective addition to their squad.

The defender has now racked up 46 caps for Argentina, along with making 92 appearances for Sevilla, showing that he can perform at a high grade internationally and at club level.

The fact that Lopetegui knows Acuna so well as a player is an added bonus, with the Argentine having played under him 84 times, making this seem a relatively risk-free transfer pursuit and suggesting that the manager feels the 31-year-old could be an excellent reinforcement.
