Wolves are in 'advanced negotiations' with Pedro Martins over the vacant manager's job at Molineux, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Martins vs Nuno?

Wanderers have been on the lookout for a new manager since Bruno Lage was relieved of his duties earlier this month, with numerous candidates being looked at.

One of those appears to be Martins, with recent reports claiming as much, and he is without a club after leaving Olympiakos at the end of last season.

He appears to be one of the favourites for the job, while Nuno Espirito Santo has also entered the mix, with reports on Friday confirming the club have held official talks with their former boss.

The Latest: Advanced negotiations

According to Noticias Ao Minuto [via Sport Witness], Martins is actually in 'advanced negotiations' with Wolves over becoming their next manager, even despite the links to Nuno.

He is thought to be 'on the verge' of getting the job, keeping the run of Portuguese managers going in the process.

The Verdict: Right person to bring in?

Missing out on Julen Lopetegui was a shame for Wolves, given his success in his career, but it could be that Martins is now the strongest available option, rather than going back on themselves by bringing in Nuno.

The 52-year-old is a serial champion after winning three Greek Super League titles in a row between 2020 and 2022, and that mentality could be priceless at Molineux.

Granted, he lacks experience in Europe's top leagues and Olympiakos are the only club of note he has managed, but he would bring a more attacking style of play to the club, something fans are crying out for.
