Wolves: Raul Jimenez expected to return for Chelsea clash - Premier League News

Raul Jimenez is expected to return from injury for WolvesPremier League clash with Chelsea next month, journalist Liam Keen reports.

The Lowdown: Jimenez absent once again

The Mexico star has struggled ever since suffering a serious head issue during the 2020/21 season, with other fitness issues seemingly mounting ever since.

Jimenez has only made two league starts so far in this campaign, with his last appearance coming in the 0-0 draw away to Bournemouth at the end of August.

Thankfully, it now looks as though the 31-year-old’s return to the fold is edging closer.

The Latest: Chelsea return mooted

According to The Express & Star‘s Keen, the league meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on October 8 is an ‘accurate’ return date for Jimenez.

That means the trip to West Ham after the international break will come too soon for him, with Wolves not wanting to rush him back.

The Verdict: Much-needed boost for Wolves

This is a positive update overall, even though Jimenez still won’t be available straight after the break, with the Mexico legend hopefully enjoying an injury-free run from this point onwards.

It could mean that Diego Costa is handed his Wolves debut at West Ham, following his arrival on a free transfer, with Wanderers badly in need of attacking firepower.

Jimenez may be past his very best but he remains a top-class striker with 93 caps at international level – he has also been hailed as ‘special’ by Nuno Espirito Santo in the past – so his comeback will hopefully coincide with an upturn in fortunes for Bruno Lage’s side.
