Wolves: Wanderers make offer to sign Boubacar Traore -Premier League News

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly made an offer to sign Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore, according to French outlet Republicain-Lorrain.

The lowdown: Career so far

Signed from Malian outfit AS Bamako for £315,000, Traore left his homeland in 2019 and has since been making waves in France.

The 20-year-old Mali youth international has amassed 31 outings for the Ligue 2 club, directly contributing to three goals in the process.

Following links to Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, Southampton and Leicester earlier in the window, now it appears as though Wolves are also keen on bringing Traore to the Premier League…

The latest: Offer made

As per Republicain-Lorrain, the Wanderers are believed to have actually made two offers to sign the nine-cap Under 20 starlet.

It’s claimed that Wolves made an initial bid of €8million (£6.7 million) for a permanent transfer, whilst the latest approach involves an initial loan with a view to buying for €10million (£8.4million).

The report suggests that the recently relegated French outfit are considering the latest offer for the youngster, hailed as a ‘pressing and dribbling machine’ by football analyst Liam Henshaw.

The verdict: One for the future

The midfield enforcer is a physical beast standing at 6-foot-tall, possessing a host of important attributes that would make the transition to English football and Bruno Lage’s style an achievable one for the powerful Malian.

Only the biggest Wolves fan will get 100% on this Bruno Lage quiz! First up, where did he manage before Molineux?

Last season, the £1.62million valued prodigy earned a 6.71 Sofascore rating whilst winning 3.8 duels, completing 1.0 successful dribbles – highlighting the aforementioned praise – and finding a teammate with 83 per cent of attempted passes on average per outing in the French top flight.

Sharing similar stylistic traits to Pape Matar Sarr, Allan and Adam Forshaw (FBref), Traore clearly favours a defensive-minded midfield role and could therefore be viewed as the long-term successor to Old Gold stalwart Joao Moutinho.
