Wolves are reportedly among a number of Premier League clubs who are interested in signing Corinthians defender Robert Renan in the summer transfer window.

The Lowdown: Lage on the lookout

This is an important few months for Bruno Lage as he looks to make significant reinforcements to his squad ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Wolves' campaign petered out somewhat last time around, with the depth at the manager's disposal arguably proving costly to their hopes of a European finish in the end.

An intriguing transfer rumour has now emerged from Brazil which suggests that one new signing could be on the cards.

The Latest: Wolves keen on Renan

According to journalist Jorge Nicola [via Sport Witness], Wolves are in the mix to sign 18-year-old Renan this summer, with his agent Eduardo Bou Daye recently in England 'building contacts' with clubs.

Offers for the defender, expected to be in the region of €10m-€11m (£8.6m-£9.5m), could arrive 'in the coming days', with the youngster a sought-after asset throughout Europe currently, having already been approached by the Stellar Group agency.

The Verdict: One for the future

Renan might not come in as a first-team regular at Wolves given his tender years and scant experience, but given the level of interest in him, his capture could be a major coup from the Old Gold.

He has just three appearances to his name for Corinthians, so he has had very limited exposure to senior football, and it would be a case of allowing him to settle into his new surroundings at his own pace.

Renan could learn from the likes of Conor Coady and Max Kilman, gradually maturing into a defensive force at Molineux for years to come and hopefully reaching his undoubted potential.
