# Wolves now in the race for Joao Felix

**[Wolverhampton Wanderers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) are now keen on a move for Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, according to a new report.**

### The Lowdown: Felix unsettled

Felix is believed to have a [difficult](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/atletico-madrid-espatletico_madrid/story/4826924/atletico-madrid-ceo-open-to-joao-felix-transfer) relationship with Atletico manager Diego Simeone, which may pave the way for an exit from the club if an ‘[option that’s good](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/atletico-madrid-espatletico_madrid/story/4826924/atletico-madrid-ceo-open-to-joao-felix-transfer)‘ arrives for both parties in the January transfer window, according to club CEO Gil Marin.

Plenty of European giants have been [discussed](https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2022/12/joao-felix-newcastle-man-utd-transfer-news) as potential suitors for the Portugal international, with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United said to leading the way, although Paris Saint-Germain are pinpointed as the most likely destination.

### The Latest: Wolves eyeing move

According to a report from [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/joao-felix-attracting-interest-across-europe-january-transfer-window), Wolves are also in the mix to sign the 23-year-old, a deal that has not been dismissed outright due to manager Julen Lopetegui possessing considerable pulling power, which could bring about a move to Molineux, despite the magnitude of some of the other clubs linked.

While it is detailed that the La Liga club are holding out for at least £100m to sell the player on a permanent basis, it is also stated that a loan deal may now be the most likely scenario.

### The Verdict: Amazing if possible

Given that Wolves are currently [bottom](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) of the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) table, being able to tempt a player who has previously been lauded as ‘[world class](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/atletico-madrid-espatletico_madrid/story/4826924/atletico-madrid-ceo-open-to-joao-felix-transfer)‘ by Marin seems highly unlikely, but a move should still be pursued, even if there is a very remote chance of it happening.

If Wolves were able to utilise their long-standing link with agent Jorge Mendes, who the player is a [client](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/gestifute/beraterfirma/berater/413) of, to make the deal happen, it would be a sensational signing, and one that would almost certainly fire them to safety, given his Champions League pedigree.

The marksman has netted [seven](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/detaillierteleistungsdaten/spieler/462250) goals in Europe’s elite competition for Atletico, displaying his ability to perform at the very highest level, while an average of [0.28](https://fbref.com/en/players/8aafd64f/Joao-Felix) assists per 90 over the past year is indicative of his creative side, as this places him in the 90th percentile compared to other players in his position.

Felix is a class above the current options Wolves have available, and Lopetegui should throw everything at a January move.
