### The lowdown: Career so far

Signed by Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in 2012, the Nigeria international moved to Genk in 2019 for £5m ([Goal](https://www.goal.com/en/news/paul-onuachu-genk-sign-nigeria-striker-from-fc-midtjylland/13vwq2r6dcq721pko74200dj4i)), having directly contributed to [97 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/272855) in 181 outings in Denmark.

The 28-year-old has gone from strength to strength in Belgium and finished the 2020/21 campaign as the [top scorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/erfolge/spieler/272855) in the Jupiler Pro League with 33 goals in 38 top-flight appearances.

Previously a suggested [target](https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=40215) for West Ham and Brighton, Onuachu is now appearing on the radar of many clubs, including Wolves…

### The latest: Wolves in Onuachu hunt

As per [PUNCH Sports Extra](https://punchng.com/genk-to-offload-onuachu-for-e18m/), Lazio, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Besiktas are all interested in the [16-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/nationalmannschaft/spieler/272855/verein_id/3444) Nigerian, along with the Old Gold.

It’s claimed that Onuachu is ‘expected to leave’ Genk this summer, and a ‘close source’ has informed the outlet that offers of around €18m (£15m) could make a transfer happen.

The report also states that the towering frontman – who was dubbed a [‘goal king’](https://www.goal.com/en/news/fashanu-genk-forward-onuachu-is-nigerias-new-goal-king/1kzdyqtmzp4411r9iajz13slry) by former England international John Fashanu – is ‘open to moving’ to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) or La Liga.

### The verdict: Value for money

Currently holding a perceived market value of £15.3m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/marktwertverlauf/spieler/272855)), signing Onuachu for the mooted fee would represent impressive business from the Molineux hierarchy as the club look to add [much-needed firepower](https://www.newschainonline.com/sport/mens-sport/football/bruno-lage-feels-wolves-should-have-scored-more-goals-but-says-we-are-changing-254440) to Bruno Lage’s squad.

The [6 foot 7](https://www.fotmob.com/players/412357/paul-onuachu) powerhouse scored [23 times and provided a further three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/paul-onuachu/leistungsdaten/spieler/272855/plus/0?saison=2021) in 43 appearances across all competitions last season, earning a 7.16 [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/paul-onuachu/295123) rating.

\[freshpress-poll id=”402572″\]

He won 5.5 duels and took 3.6 shots per game, coming out on top in 60% of his aerial duels ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/paul-onuachu/295123)), highlighting his prowess both in an attacking sense and in being able to win possession.

As misfiring striker Fabio Silva prepares to move [on loan](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10992061/Wolves-forward-Fabio-Silva-set-join-Anderlecht-season-long-loan-deal.html) to Anderlecht, Onuachu represents a wholly viable option for the Old Gold in order to support Raul Jimenez and potentially even play alongside the Mexican to provide what could be a devastating partnership.
