# Wolves: Raul Jimenez expected to leave this summer

**There is every chance that [Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) striker [Raul Jimenez](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/raul-jimenez/) seal a summer move away from Molineux at the end of the season, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.**

### The Lowdown: Jimenez struggling this season

The Mexican has been a great servant for Wanderers down the years, racking up an overall tally of [57 goals and 23 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raul-jimenez/alletore/spieler/206040) in 158 appearances.

Jimenez has struggled to find his best form this season however, [not finding the net](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/108186/Show/Ra%C3%BAl-Jim%C3%A9nez) once in seven [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) outings and looking like his best days are behind him.

With the 31-year-old’s contract [running out](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raul-jimenez/profil/spieler/206040) at the end of next season, this summer could be the final chance for him to enjoy a new challenge while banking the club a decent fee in the process.

### The Latest: Summer exit predicted

While all the [current exit talk is about Ruben Neves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/wolves-ruben-neves-latest-transfer-news-updates/), O’Rourke told [*Give Me Sport*](https://www.givemesport.com/wolves-100k-a-week-star-now-set-for-parting-of-the-ways-at-molineux/) he could also see Jimenez departing Molineux once the 2022/23 campaign reaches its conclusion:

> “I think for a while now, Wolves have been looking for striking alternatives. They brought in Kalajdzic in the summer as a big-money signing, but unfortunately, he got injured straightaway.
>
> “And now they’ve got Matheus Cunha and (Pablo) Sarabia in; I don’t see too many first-team opportunities for Raul Jimenez. So, I think there might be a parting of the way in the summer for Jimenez.”

### The Verdict: Right time to move on

A summer exit from Wolves is likely to be the best outcome for everyone when it comes to Jimenez, with the [100-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raul-jimenez/profil/spieler/206040) Mexico hero not at the level he once was.

\[freshpress-poll id=“399044″\]

In truth, he has never been the same since suffering a life-threatening head injury against Arsenal, which is wholly understandable, with age also catching up with him at the same time.

Jimenez has been a huge part of any success Wolves have had in recent years, being [hailed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8457571/Nuno-Espirito-Santo-heaps-praise-special-Raul-Jimenez-Bournemouth-winner.html) as ‘special’ by Nuno Espirito Santo back in 2020, but all good things must come to an end.

Receiving a fee for the [£100,000-a-week-earning](https://www.spotrac.com/epl/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/raul-jimenez-26736/) striker this summer would generate funds for a younger striker, as well as freeing up wages, and the hope is that Jimenez can enjoy one last hurrah in the remaining months of this season.
