# Wolves ‘ready to offer’ Julen Lopetegui a two-year deal

**[Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) are readying a two-year deal for Julen Lopetegui, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-jorge-mendes-in-wolves-manager-talks-today-as-offer-readied/).**

### The Lowdown: Lopetegui links

Wolves have been on the hunt for a new boss for over a week now after deciding to part ways with Bruno Lage. [John Percy](https://twitter.com/JPercyTelegraph/status/1577011938340442113) stated that Lopetegui was on the club’s radar shortly after Lage’s dismissal while he was still under contract with Sevilla.

The 56-year-old has since [lost his job](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/05/champions-league-roundup-jude-bellingham-stars-for-dortmund-but-psg-are-held) with the La Liga side, which resulted in Wolves [stepping up](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2022/oct/06/wolves-julen-lopetegui-sevilla-sacking-manager) their pursuit of the Spaniard. [Steve Madeley](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/wolves-premier-league-julen-lopetegui-transfer-news-updates/) believes Wolves will likely confirm Lopetegui later this week, with an update now emerging.

### The Latest: Update

[FI](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-jorge-mendes-in-wolves-manager-talks-today-as-offer-readied/) shared more news regarding Wolves and Lopetegui on Monday morning. They revealed that further talks were set to take place yesterday with the manager and super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The report said that Wolves are ‘ready’ to offer Lopetegui a ‘two-year deal with the option of a third year.’

### The Verdict: In charge vs Forest?

If Wolves can wrap up a deal in the next 48 hours, you’d like to think that there is a possibility Lopetegui could be in the Molineux dugout against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

\[freshpress-quiz id=”410492″\]

That could give him time to lay out the basics of his preferred [attacking 4-3-3 formation](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julen-lopetegui/profil/trainer/6615), a system that has been used [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/spielplan/verein/543) times by Wolves in the Premier League this season.

A few tactical alterations could be made, though, as Saturday’s meeting with fellow strugglers Forest is a huge one with both clubs currently in the bottom three.
