# Wolves: These fans name Joao Moutinho as the team’s most important player

**Many Wolves fans have identified Joao Moutinho as the most important player in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.**

Wolves Live on Twitter ([@WolvesFC\_latest](https://twitter.com/WolvesFC_latest/status/1195052527714213893)) asked followers who they believe to be the one player without whom the team would struggle to manage.

Although there was a variety of responses offered, Moutinho’s name was a recurring theme in the list of replies.

The 33-year-old midfielder has [yet to score in 22 games](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-moutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/29364) this season, but is the team’s leading assists provider with seven to his name already in the current campaign.

He has started 11 out of their 12 Premier League games this term, as well as three of their four Europa League group matches. \[[via TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-moutinho/leistungsdaten/spieler/29364)\]

[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/fabulous-business-danny-mills-makes-20m-wolves-transfer-claim-as-contract-terms-agreed/) claimed last month that Moutinho is close to agreeing a contract extension at Wolves, with former England international Danny Mills hailing him as “[a very, very good player](https://www.footballinsider247.com/fabulous-business-danny-mills-makes-20m-wolves-transfer-claim-as-contract-terms-agreed/)” and describing his [£5m signing by the club in 2018](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/44922630) as a “[brilliant bit of business](https://www.footballinsider247.com/fabulous-business-danny-mills-makes-20m-wolves-transfer-claim-as-contract-terms-agreed/)“.

These Wolves fans on Twitter feel that [120-cap Portugal international](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-moutinho/nationalmannschaft/spieler/29364/verein_id/3300) Moutinho is the team’s most important player:

> 5ft 7 of footballing heaven 🐺. He drives us forward and breaks play up so much …most of counters are usually caused by joao 😊😊😊

> Jimenez, Coady and Rui are shouts, but I think it’s Moutinho. The whole system just runs so much smoother with him in it.
