Barcelona are unlikely to bring back Francisco Trincao from Wolves in the January transfer window, according to a fresh report which has emerged.
The Lowdown: Trincao linked with Barca move
Bruno Lage’s side have made a solid start to the 2021/22 season and Trincao has been an impressive performer on loan, making eight Premier League starts. The 21-year-old is still searching for his first league goal or assist of the campaign, but he has looked a threat out on the right-hand side.
Trincao’s performances are rumoured to have caught the attention of Barca, with a report on Wednesday claiming that the La Liga club’s new manager Xavi wants to bring him back to the Nou Camp in January.
Who should Wolves sign?
The Latest: Fresh update emerges
Those reports suggest that Trincao will remain at the Molineux for the entirety of the season, as was initially agreed between the two clubs back in the summer.
The Verdict: Vital to keep hold of him
It would be a big blow to lose the young Portuguese prematurely this season, especially as he has looked such a vibrant presence, averaging 2.8 dribbles per game in the league this season – the joint-fourth highest in the division and a better average than Liverpool star Mohamed Salah (2.2).
With Adama Traore being linked with a January exit, Wolves cannot afford to lose two wide men at the same time, so the reports that Barcelona seemingly have no intention of recalling him mid-season are most welcome.
