Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking for players that they can bring in during the January transfer window, and may have had their heads turned on Wednesday evening.
The man concerned is Lille midfielder Renato Sanches, who Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have been heavily linked with in recent weeks (per CalcioMercato, via Goal), leading fans to rave about the potential signing. Supporters may remember the Portuguese midfielder when he served a brief spell at Swansea City back in 2017, only providing one assist in 15 appearances (TransferMarkt).
Sanches featured in Portugal’s 7-0 rout against Andorra as they continued preparing for their crucial Nations League clashes against France and Croatia during the international break.
Should Nuno try and sign Renato Sanches?
The 23-year-old started as Os Navegadores lined up in a 4-3-3 formation. Sanches was on the right side of a midfield trio consisting of Wolves star Joao Moutinho and Sergio Oliviera of FC Porto. During the encounter, Sanches got himself on the scoresheet, as well as making four ball recoveries, 13 long balls and accumulated an incredible pass success rate of 97% (Fotmob).
Despite being labelled as a Bayern flop, Sanches admitted that he “learned to never give up” and this attitude has reflected in his showings in Ligue 1. That performance alone may tempt Nuno into moving for him once the transfer market opens its doors, given the recent reported interest from Molineux.
