Many Wolverhampton Wanderers fans have slammed Ilkay Gundogan’s claim that he can imagine Raul Jimenez playing for Manchester City.
The German central midfield player was speaking to ESPN FC (via Goal) when he said that the Mexican international has everything that a world-class striker needs, adding that he is mobile, physically good and technically-talented on the ball.
Indeed, the 28-year old has enjoyed a relatively prolific start to his career with the Midlands club, scoring 39 goals and providing 18 assists in 88 appearances in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.
It is perhaps not surprising based on his stats and ability that he has received Gundogan’s plaudits. Comparing Jimenez to Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in the Premier League this season, the former averages more shots, key passes and dribbles per match, according to Whoscored.
These WWFC supporters slammed Gundogan’s claim, as they were very protective over their prized asset on Twitter:
Why would he play for a club that can’t get in the champs league? Dream on
