Wolves fans may be breathing a sigh of relief after Ruben Neves effectively committed his future to the Midlands club as an interview with him was transcribed by The Express and Star.
As per the report, the central midfield player said that his family and him are really happy at Wolves and he added that it was a great decision for him to move to the West Midlands.
Neves wants to continue helping the team with his performances, as he has managed 43 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring four goals and making two assists, according to Transfermarkt.
Is Neves the best midfielder at Wolves?
The 23-year old claimed that he moved to Molineux just to play football and improve as a player and admitted that he wants to start playing again.
Perhaps fortunately for Neves, the Premier League is set to resume on June 17 following the coronavirus pandemic, with Aston Villa hosting Sheffield United and Manchester City facing Arsenal (via Sky Sports) on that date.
The Portuguese international also had time to reassure Wolves supporters that his immediate future lies with them, claiming that he does not think about speculation with regards to transfers, implying that he is fully focused on doing well in the famous gold and black strip whilst he is at the club.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men currently remain in the UEFA Europa League and sit in sixth place in the top flight table at the moment on 43 points, with nine matches left to play (per BBC). Neves’ comments should come as a welcome boost as the return of the season draws closer.
