# Wolves: Wanderers make offer to sign Boubacar Traore

**[Wolverhampton Wanderers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-news/) have reportedly made an offer to sign Metz midfielder Boubacar Traore, according to French outlet [Republicain-Lorrain](https://www.republicain-lorrain.fr/sport/2022/08/09/fc-metz-une-offre-de-wolverhampton-pour-boubacar-traore).**

### The lowdown: Career so far

[Signed](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-traore/transfers/spieler/649020) from Malian outfit AS Bamako for £315,000, Traore left his homeland in 2019 and has since been making waves in France.

The 20-year-old Mali youth international has amassed [31 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-traore/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/649020) for the Ligue 2 club, directly contributing to three goals in the process.

### The latest: Offer made

As per [Republicain-Lorrain](https://www.republicain-lorrain.fr/sport/2022/08/09/fc-metz-une-offre-de-wolverhampton-pour-boubacar-traore), the Wanderers are believed to have actually made two offers to sign the [nine-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-traore/nationalmannschaft/spieler/649020/verein_id/46122) Under 20 starlet.

It’s claimed that Wolves made an initial bid of €8million (£6.7 million) for a permanent transfer, whilst the latest approach involves an initial loan with a view to buying for €10million (£8.4million).

The report suggests that the recently relegated French outfit are considering the latest offer for the youngster, hailed as a [‘pressing and dribbling machine’](https://twitter.com/HenshawAnalysis/status/1544646122911719424) by football analyst Liam Henshaw.

### The verdict: One for the future

The midfield enforcer is a physical beast standing at [6-foot-tall](https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/players/boubacar-traore-3), possessing a host of important attributes that would make the transition to English football and Bruno Lage’s style an achievable one for the powerful Malian.

Last season, the [£1.62million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/boubacar-traore/marktwertverlauf/spieler/649020) prodigy earned a 6.71 [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/boubacar-traore/982613) rating whilst winning 3.8 duels, completing 1.0 successful dribbles – highlighting the aforementioned praise – and finding a teammate with 83 per cent of attempted passes on average per outing in the French top flight.

Sharing similar stylistic traits to Pape Matar Sarr, Allan and Adam Forshaw ([FBref](https://fbref.com/en/players/999ceb5f/Boubacar-Traore)), Traore clearly favours a defensive-minded midfield role and could therefore be viewed as the long-term successor to Old Gold stalwart Joao Moutinho.
