# Wolves: Wanderers reach Craig Dawson agreement

**[Wolverhampton Wanderers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-transfer-rumours/) have reached an agreement with West Ham for defender Craig Dawson, according to [90min’s Graeme Bailey](https://www.90min.com/posts/wolves-agree-craig-dawson-deal).**

### The Lowdown: Dawson interest

Wolves have already brought in three players this month, with Matheus Cunha, Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina [completing moves](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/transfers/verein/543/plus/?saison_id=2022&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=w) to Molineux.

Dawson was of interest to Wolves in the summer, and Julen Lopetegui has recently [renewed](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/01/10/wolves-transfer-news-craig-dawson-lopetegui-west-ham/) the club’s pursuit of the 32-year-old. The centre-back is out of [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/craig-dawson/profil/spieler/121477) at the London Stadium in the summer, and it looks as if a move to Wolves is now a real possibility.

### The Latest: Agreement reached

Bailey shared a story for [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/wolves-agree-craig-dawson-deal) on Thursday, claiming that Wolves have agreed a deal with the Hammers for Dawson’s services.

The journalist added that an agreement is thought to be worth just over £3m, with the player previously keen on moving further north to be closer to his family.

### The Verdict: Shrewd signing?

Max Kilman is the [oldest centre-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wolverhampton-wanderers/kader/verein/543) available to Lopetegui at the age of 25, so bringing in someone like Dawson could prove to be a smart piece of business as the new manager gets to grips with his current squad and the Premier League.

Michail Antonio has described Dawson as [‘quality’ and ‘unbelievable’](https://www.footballfancast.com/wolves-transfer-rumours/wolves-craig-dawson-west-ham-julen-lopetegui-wwfc-molineux), with the centre-back also being able to provide cover at [right-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/craig-dawson/profil/spieler/121477) if required.

He is closing in on [250](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/craig-dawson/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/121477) appearances in the Premier League, and with Wolves [conceding more goals](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) than the likes of West Ham and Everton so far this season, securing an experienced head like Dawson could be crucial heading into the second half of the season.
