# World’s greatest linked with shock Barcelona exit

[![leo messi](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/leo-messi-500x331.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/leo-messi.jpg?admin)Fans from a variety of clubs in the Transfer Tavern have been stunned by a report read out by one punter, which declares the world’s best footballer could be on the move in 2018.

Lionel Messi has faced a turbulent few months off the field due to a tax avoidance case, which could potentially land him in jail, and *[Fichajes](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/messi-barcelona-2018-20151018.html)*[claims the whole incident has left the Barcelona star contemplating an exit.](https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/messi-barcelona-2018-20151018.html)

[Said to be unhappy and losing his patience with life in Spain](https://metro.co.uk/2015/10/19/lionel-messi-tax-case-could-lead-to-shock-barcelona-exit-in-2018-report-5446696/), any exit from the Catalan giants in two-years time would send shockwaves across world football; as it’s unclear where the 28-year-old would go, having spent his entire career with Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain are likely to be the favourites, should a Messi exit take place, due to their immense financial prowess but [last year it was claimed the Argentine considered joining Premier League outfit Arsenal.](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/490728/Lionel-Messi-eyed-a-move-to-Arsenal)

If Messi was to leave Barcelona then every club in world football would be anxiously working out their finances and whether they could afford a move for the little magician, who has wowed fans for the past decade with his fantastic ability.
