# Liverpool: Fans show support to Xherdan Shaqiri after opening up about his future

**Many [Liverpool](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league/liverpool/) fans have been showing their support for winger [Xherdan Shaqiri](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/xherdan-shaqiri-roma-lazio-sevilla-twitter-talk/) after he opened up about what happened over the summer regarding his future.**

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from Anfield this summer, with [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/2101530/2020/10/02/liverpool-transfers-exits-shaqiri-wilson-grujic-origi-brewster/) suggesting that he was due to follow Rhian Brewster out the exit door.

The [likes of](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/liverpool-fc-transfer-rumours/xherdan-shaqiri-roma-lazio-sevilla-twitter-talk/) Lazio, Roma and Sevilla were believed to be interesting in his services but the tables quickly turned as the deadline passed and nothing was announced by the club.

During a recent interview with the [Swiss FA](https://twitter.com/SFV_ASF/status/1313343227081240582), Shaqiri reiterated his desire to stay at Liverpool and stated that he feels good about it, despite saying that the media ‘write a lot’.

The Swiss winger has scored eight times and provided five assists in 42 appearances for Liverpool (as per [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xherdan-shaqiri/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/86792/verein/31)), with [three years](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/xherdan-shaqiri/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/86792/verein/31) left on his contract. However, he has started a paltry [two Premier League games since August 2019](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/76304/History/Xherdan-Shaqiri).
