# Tottenham: Spurs interested in Yassine Bounou transfer

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) are interested in signing Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, according to a new report.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs eyeing goalkeeper

Spurs have continually been linked with several different goalkeepers to replace Hugo Lloris, with the Frenchman’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium now [said](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/hugo-lloris-future-news-update-latest/) to be in doubt.

Back in January, it was [claimed](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-hotspur-jordan-pickford-transfer-rumours/) that Tottenham had set their sights on Everton’s Jordan Pickford, while more recently names such as [Jan Oblak](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/jan-oblak-transfer-news-rumours-latest/) and [David Raya](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11738385/Brentfords-keeper-David-Raya-adds-exit-rumours-amid-Man-United-Spurs-Chelsea.html) have been thrown into the mix, but there is reportedly still a chance they go in for an old target.

### The Latest: Bounou’s an option

According to a [report](https://as.com/futbol/primera/la-premier-se-rifa-a-bono-n/) from AS (via [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/tottenham-made-january-approach-goalkeeper-expected-return-summer/)), Spurs made an enquiry about ‘Bono’ in January, but their approach was turned by Sevilla, with manager Jorge Sampaoli deciding he was a crucial player.

However, the report claims that [Antonio Conte](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/antonio-conte/)‘s side are expected to return to the negotiating table in the summer, although they will have to fend off interest from other [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) clubs, such as Manchester United and West Ham United.

### The Verdict: Get it done?

[Hailed](https://twitter.com/AlexW1802/status/1600186633957314560?s=20&t=dYJ4a-E24JARLoLEUgKP7A) as a ‘fantastic goalkeeper’ by the media, the 31-year-old is most well-known for his performances with Morocco at the Qatar World Cup, [rated](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/morocco/4778) by Sofascore as the fourth-best performing player in the squad that made it all the way to the semi-finals.

The shot-stopper’s finest display came in the round of 16 tie against Spain, saving [two](https://www.sofascore.com/morocco-spain/YTbsDVb) penalties in the shoot-out to secure a place in the quarter-finals against all the odds, being dubbed a ‘[legend](https://twitter.com/jluhnow/status/1600499250374246402?s=20&t=KwgGMKtlIfMFpsJNBjcwvw)‘ for his performance.

That said, while 31 is not old for a goalkeeper, Spurs should target a more long-term replacement for Lloris, with Pickford fitting the bill at 28-years-old, and he has also recorded a [better](https://fbref.com/en/players/4806ec67/Jordan-Pickford) save percentage than [Bounou](https://fbref.com/en/players/f6798fc3/Yassine-Bounou) over the past year.
