Liverpool line up Suarez contingency plan

benteke.jpgIt was just yesterday in the Football Transfer Tavern that we reported Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke was trying to force a move away from the Midlands club and today Mail Online’s Simon Jones suggests that Liverpool could be his summer destination.

The Reds will consider a move for the 22-year-old Belgian international – who netted twice for his country in their 4-2 friendly victory over the USA on Saturday – if they lose Luis Suarez to Real Madrid in the post season.

Benteke is understood to be keen on a move to a bigger Premier League club and is set for talks with the Villa chiefs once he returns from international duty with Arsenal and Tottenham also reportedly interested.

After signing from Genk for £7 million last summer, Benteke single-handedly hauled Villa away from the relegation zone with 19 strikes in his 34 Premier League matches, with an additional four assists.

His impressive form has attracted attention from further afield and last week La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for him as they seek to replace Radamel Falcao who departed for Monaco.

Villa want the striker to sign a new improved deal to remain at Villa Park for the next season at least but with Brendan Rodgers possibly looking for a new forward he could be ready to make the move to Anfield.

Can Liverpool beat the likes of Arsenal & Spurs to Benteke’s signature? Will he even move at all? Rate this rumour below.

No thank you ( Another lump like Carroll ) He’s got no skill, only Braun. Are are managers stupid or what ? Get a wedge from torres, waist it on Carroll ;-( Get a wedge from Suarez, waist it on Benteke ;-(
If Benteke is going to cost £25 million,I’d rather have Dzeko all day long instead…

This would be the same lump that dismantled you at Anfield and scored the opener at Villa Park this season, no?

Don’t worry, he’s far too good for you anyway.

I commend you for admitting your team is even worse garbage hence why Benteke wants to leave

While Suarez’s departure may be unavoidable for a good reason, LFC should know better that it will be doing so at its own peril.

he’s a good player but isn’t worth wats being coted in d news(£25). If suarez go to real brendon should ask for higuain+40mil or 60mil. Suarez leave r not liverpool should try there utmost best to get in erikson he’s a qwulity player and he would add goals and a lot of creativity to the team along with him we should get, benhafa or navas for the rm, diame or benaga dm to compete with lucas and micah richards cd and aspas is as good as in already.
