Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are feeling good again after their win last night took them to 2nd place in the Premier League table.

The Reds traveled to Middlesbrough last night on the back of earning just one point in their last two games against Bournemouth and West Ham but did not look too bothered by the mounting criticism as they responded in style.

Jurgen Klopp’s men chalked up a comfortable 3-0 win in the north east to take them to just behind Chelsea in the Premier League table and their fans here by the bar are beginning to believe they can still win the league this year.

Our landlord reckons if they can do some good business in January they’ll certainly be up there and so, with that in mind, here are two ins and an out the club should complete when the window opens…

In: Christian Pulisic

The young Dortmund player is really asserting himself this season and looks set for a very bright future.

Naturally, then, the Bundesliga side are going to fight hard to keep hold of him for as long as possible but if the Reds make a good enough offer they may have to sell. The teenager has proven himself in both the German top flight and the Champions League this season, the latter of which the Reds are determined to be in for next season.

Out: Mamadou Sakho

Sakho and Klopp just do not get on any more so it makes sense for the good of everyone to sell him as soon as possible.

The two evidently fell out on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States and have not reconciled since so surely there can only be one way forward now. The risk is in keeping the Frenchman that squad morale could be negatively impacted and so for the good of the title challenge, too, it’s best the centre-half is shown the door.

In: Jonas Hector

James Milner has done a good job at left back but the Reds cannot go on with just him in that role.

They need a proper, proven, left sided defender that knows the position inside out and is both offensively and defensively gifted. Hector is exactly the kind of player that Liverpool could do with in their team and our landlord thinks in signing him the Reds would have a very good chance of winning the league.
