World champions Liverpool have a proud history as being one of the biggest clubs in football. Indeed, they hold their crown over the rest of the globe for the first time ever, adding to their six European Cups and 18 Premier League titles. Indeed, another of the latter is surely still to follow when the football season resumes.
With that in mind, it’s not surprising that the Reds are so often involved in major transfer rumours. So, to keep Kopites all around the world in the loop when it comes to Merseyside murmurs, the Football Transfer Tavern have created a hub so you can get your fix of the latest

The Reds’ rise in recent years has largely been built on some of their finest, though most expensive ever transfers. January 2018 saw them make the transformative move for £75m Virgil van Dijk who was then joined by Alisson Becker just a few months later, to the tune of £67m. The two biggest deals in the club’s history, they certainly got those ones right.
That’s not to say the kind of success enjoyed by Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards was always in play, though. Indeed, think of the big money wasted on players such as Andy Carroll, Christian Benteke and Lazar Markovic over the years.
Van Dijk and Alisson aside, the more recent deals for Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have obviously helped the Reds conquer all before them. None of those cost more than £40m individually, truly providing value for money given their formidable impact in taking the team to the top.
Elsewhere, previous foreign imports such as Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez have hit the mark in years gone by to give the Kop real heroes, while Brendan Rodgers’ two transfer gems of January 2013 almost handed him a Premier League title, in the shape of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho.
While the aforementioned players have had huge impacts on Merseyside, it’s hard to argue against a certain Scotsman being their best-ever signing. Brought to Anfield to replace Kevin Keegan in 1977 for £440k, Kenny Daglish would become a legend as both a player and a manager.
After remaining relatively quiet for a number of windows now since the major spend of 2018, expect Liverpool to be back with a vengeance. In order to build long-term success, elite clubs cannot afford to stand still with so much money available to competitors at the top of the game.
So, amid links with the likes of Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner, it’ll be interesting to see who Klopp turns to in order to strengthen Liverpool’s grip at the top. Whoever he does, however, we’ve got you covered here on the Football Transfer Tavern.
