Liverpool supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern in recent days after seeing their side extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to seven matches by easing past Stoke City 3-0 at the bet365 Stadium on Wednesday night, at the same time moving up to fifth in the Premier League table.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Potters off the back of frustrating draws against Sevilla and Chelsea, both games in which they led going into the final stages. But there was little concern in Staffordshire on Wednesday as Sadio Mane gave them a first half lead, from which substitute Mohamed Salah added a second half brace to secure a comfortable victory for the Merseyside giants, who in turn moved above Tottenham into fifth place in the Premier League table.
Consequently, there have been many delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are already eagerly anticipating their team’s potential tricky trip to Chris Hughton’s Brighton on Saturday, where the Reds will hope to record an eighth league victory of the campaign.
Elsewhere, there has been much for our resident Liverpool fans to discuss, not least recent reports suggesting that their team are eyeing up a mega money move for Sporting Lisbon forward Gelson Martins.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a sensational start to the campaign with six goals and six assists in just 20 games for the Portuguese heavyweights, helping them to second place in the Primeira Liga and just two points adrift of leaders Porto.
And Liverpool are one side reportedly keeping tabs on the Portugal international ahead of a possible move in January, and were Martins to indeed move to Anfield, here are TWO other stars who could follow him to Merseyside…

Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk’s proposed move away from Southampton dominated the headlines throughout the summer, although the Netherlands international remained at St Mary’s beyond the August 31 deadline.
However, the centre-back has since said that he is still hopeful of a move away in January, before backtracking somewhat a few weeks later, and that is surely going to be of interest of Liverpool boss Klopp, what with van Dijk heavily linked with a move to Anfield during the close season, and in recent times as well.
And given that the Reds’ defensive issues don’t appear to be getting any better, it’s a move they must seek to make in the New Year.
Thomas Lemar

Thomas Lemar played a signifcnat part in Monaco’s incredible success last term, given that he netted 14 goals and laid on 17 assists to help them to the Ligue 1 title, alongside two goals and five assists in their run to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
However, Leonardo Jardim’s squad was decimated by big money departures over the summer, of which Lemar threatened to be one given he was heavily linked with Arsenal, and as such things haven’t quite gone to plan for the club this term, what with them already out of the Champions League.
And speculation has been building about Lemar’s future in recent times, with Liverpool one side reportedly interested in his services, and with the future of Philippe Coutinho far from certain heading into January, it’s a move the Merseyside giants must look to make when the window reopens.
