2 players who could follow Goncalo Guedes to Arsenal in January

Gunners here in the Tavern are frustrated with their sides inconsistency so far this season, after Sunday’s disappointing result.

Arsene Wenger is currently the longest-serving manager in the Premier League, having been appointed back in 1996. But fans haven’t always seen eye to eye with the Frenchman, after last year saw them finish outside of the top 4 for the first time since he took charge of the club, which sparked many heated responses towards Arsene, as they brought back the WengerOUT campaign.

Now, finding themselves outside the top 4 once again, things are beginning to take their toll on the football club with many fans putting it down to the lack of consistency within their ranks, as star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez have gone missing.

So, with improvements required, reports have emerged suggesting that Arsene Wenger is looking to secure the services of PSG loanee Goncalo Guedes next summer with a £26 million deal.

The 21-year-old has spent the duration of this season on-loan at Spanish side Valencia in his favoured position of left-wing and that’s seen him score 3 goals and assist 5 in La Liga this season. His trickery and speed are two aspects of his game that forced a move to France in the first place, as he continues to blossom in his younger years.

With the future of Alexis Sanchez looking uncertain, why not look to the services of the youngster?

Nevertheless, with Arsenal having to wait until the Summer to sign the midfielder, here’s a look at 2 other stars who could potentially follow Goncalo Guedes to the Emirates.

Steven N’Zonzi

The central-defensive-midfielder has made a name for himself as one of the best defensive midfielders in Spain since departing Stoke City back in 2015.

In becoming one of the crucial components of his current side Sevilla’s success, he’s managed to feature in 16 games this season on his way to earning plaudits for the majority of his performances, with an impressive defensive display never too far away.

Indeed, with all the transfer rumours flying around, N’Zonzi was left-out of his current club Sevilla’s squad to face Real Madrid, with the Daily Star speculating on his supposed move to North London.

Of course, with Granit Xhaka becoming inconsistent and unreliable at times, fans would love to see their side acquire a proven defensive-midfielder with Premier League experience.

Emil Forsberg

The Swedish international has become one of the rising stars in the Bundesliga this season, as he continues to impress in his breakthrough season.

As a late bloomer at the age of 26, Emil Forsberg has loved life in his familiar position of left-midfield, with 4 goals and 2 assist to show for his troubles so far this season.

Although he doesn’t hold the best stat-line, it will only take one viewing of the midfielder to see his undeniable talents, with many fans here in the Tavern left speechless after seeing highlight reels on YouTube.

After trying to sign the midfielder during the summer months, a possible deal came to a halt as his current club RB Leipzig foiled plans of a move, much to the dismay of the midfielder who saw it as a ‘dream move’.

Of course, having seen their side come close to securing a deal in the Summer with the player interested, Arsenal fans will be hoping they can push one through come January time.
