The Watford fans in the Transfer Tavern are worried by rumours linking their new Brazillian star with a move away from the club.
Watford have began the season with a new found confidence under their new manager Marco Silva and they look a vastly improved outfit to the one that finished 17th in the Premier League last season under Walter Mazzarri. One of their revelations of the season so far has been the performances of their new signing Richarlison who they brought to Vicarage Road from Fluminense in the summer.
And the Watford faithful propping up the bar are delighted to see a player full of flair and quality in their ranks after a miserable attacking campaign last season.
Richarlison has wasted no time in adapting to the demands of the English top-flight. Thus far, he has managed 4 league goals and 3 assists from his opening 11 matches to place him firmly amongst the most important players at the club right now.
His fantastic form for Silva’s side has not gone unnoticed by Watford’s league rivals, and Tottenham are already beginning to plot a raid for the highly-regarded Brazilian according to The Mirror.
A move for Richarlison may appear slightly premature with his Premier League career only just underway, but the quality he has shown thus far suggests the Brazillian could become a real gem of a player.
Tottenham will be looking to catch Manchester City at the top of the table this season and also continue to progress into the later rounds of the Champions League, so they will require plenty of strength in depth to help them achieve their ambitions for the season.
With that being said, here are two more players who could join Richarlison at Tottenham in January.
Stefan de Vrij
The January transfer window is a time when clubs are rarely willing to depart with their players unless the offer is simply too good to refuse.
So Tottenham need to somehow ensure they’re getting value for money through their potential signings, and Lazio’s centre-back Stefan de Vrij could be a rare find in the current market.
De Vrij has been in fantastic form for Lazio this season and his performances at the heart of defence have enabled his side to 4th place in Serie A, just 4 points behind leaders Napoli with a game in hand.
With his contract set to expire next summer, Lazio may be willing to cash in on the Dutch international rather than lose him for free at the end of the season.
Ross Barkley
Ross Barkley’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season.
Although Everton will be keen to ensure he remains at the club, Tottenham should do everything in their power to lure him from Goodison before competition for his signature intensifies Europe next summer.
Mauricio Pochettino has worked wonders in encouraging young English talent to find their best form in the past few seasons, so Barkley should be keen on joining forces with Pochettino at Tottenham to unlock his true potential.
Barkley will not come cheap even with 6 months remaining on his contract, but that should not deter Tottenham from pursuing the 23-year-old in January.
