2 pros and 2 cons to West Ham United sacking Slaven Bilic – Thoughts?

The Football Transfer Tavern punters have been shocked at how poor a start to the season West Ham have had.

They have had some bad results, with losses to Astra Giurgiu, Watford and West Bromwich Albion and some people believe that Slaven Bilic’s tactics have played a part in that.

The Hammers at the bar are complaining about how bad it has been since the club’s move to the London Stadium and saying they wish they were back at Upton Park, however some are questioning whether something new is what’s needed to make the move work. D

Debate has opened up about whether the club need to sack Bilic and get someone new in and the landlord has been listening in.

Here are TWO pros and TWO cons that he has picked up from the debate about whether Slaven Bilic should be sacked by West Ham. Do you agree with these and do you think Bilic needs to go? Let us know.

PRO: Shock players into action

After the success of last season, nobody would have thought Slaven Bilic being sacked would be even a slight possibility.

If the Sullivans and West Ham’s board were to relieve the Croatian of his duties then it would show that they will not stand failure, which could force any underperforming players to think about how they are playing.

If that was to happen then the board and everyone at West Ham would be hoping that would help West Ham climb back up the table.

PRO: Fresh Start

West Ham haven’t had the best of times at London Stadium and a new manager could signal a new beginning at the stadium.

A lot of Hammers aren’t happy about how things have been since they left Upton Park, but a new manager and the fresh approach that comes with that could bring success and ease the heartache and frustration that the supporters are currently feeling.

It is important that things start improving at West Ham before the atmosphere at the London Stadium gets even worse.

CON: Early in the season

It is still very early in the season and to be sacking somebody who did so well last season could be seen as a bit rash.

The performances and results have not been up to scratch, but there have been injuries to key players and new ones are still being blooded into the side so with time he should be able to turn it around.

West Ham had a poor start to last season and they ended up breaking numerous club records.

CON: Identity

Slaven Bilic used to play for West Ham and is someone who identifies with the club and their supporters.

With all the problems surrounding the new stadium, a lot of supporters feel like they have been turned into outsiders.

Sacking a man who was with them at Upton Park as both a player and manager could worsen that feeling further.

The supporters are very important to any football club and with everything that is happening, the board need to be careful about how quickly they move away from everything the Hammers faithful have known before this season.
