Despite the fact this season has gone pretty much as well as anyone could have hoped, the Celtic fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern have been rocked today. 

As revealed by the Scottish Sun, Hoops midfielder Tom Rogic could miss up to eight weeks of the campaign after an ankle injury led to an operation for Australian, who hadn’t made an appearance since mid-December. Having impressed so much under Brendan Rodgers, the 24-year-old is undoubtedly one of the most important players to the green and white cause.

Still, the Bhoys at the bar shouldn’t get too down in the dumps out indeed. For in their midst, they have a ready-made replacement waiting in the wings.

Liam Henderson may have found it difficult to command regular first-team minutes at the start of the campaign, though his recent outings suggest he really is the man to take Rogic’s place. Here’s a closer look at TWO reasons why.

Fleet Footed

Rogic is no doubt the best option Celtic have had at No.10 this season, dropping into positions created as the likes of James Forrest and Scott Sinclair bomb forward. As menacing a presence as he is (particularly with his long-range efforts), the Aussie star isn’t the most technically gifted.

With the Hoops turning on the style of that late, Henderson can show off his silky footwork, able to play off the likes of Moussa Dembele like a true No.10.

Big games

Henderson, despite only being 20 years of age, is already a hero with the club he supported as a boy – Hibernian. The Scotland U21 international played a pivotal role in their famous Scottish Cup final win over Rangers. He’s got a passion for the big occasion and energy to get up and down the park, as well as the quality to deliver in attacking areas.
