2 Southampton players fans surely cannot wait to see axed in the summer

The Saints haven’t had the best season by any means, and after their defeat to United in the League Cup final, our landlord here at the Transfer Tavern feels they really need an overhaul.

Southampton should be challenging for European football and for whatever reason this season, it just hasn’t worked out that way.

Up till the moment they signed Gabbiadini, they hadn’t really had any kind of consistent goal threat.

The former Napoli man has really helped to improve their situation in front of goal, and certainly looks the real deal in his short time on the south coast.

However, their problems lay much deeper than just up top.

They need to get rid of some of the deadwood and overhaul the first team squad if they are to try and break back into the Europa League spots next season.

With that in mind, these are the TWO Southampton players that fans surely cannot wait to see axed in the summer…

JEREMY PIED

Pied was a player who was seemingly much loved by the gaffer Claude Puel at his previous club Nice.

But for one reason or another it just simply hasn’t worked out at the Saints for the French defender.

He’s not really featured and it’s likely that fans would rather see the wages put to better use to land a first team regular.

The 28-year-old right-back undoubtedly does not have a future at St Mary’s, and the Saints here in the Transfer Tavern really would not be too bothered if he departed in the summer.

FLORIN GARDOS

The Romanian international had such high hopes when he arrived in England in 2015, but with injuries and a strong back-line, it’s seen him drop down the pecking order, even in behind the youngsters at the club.

Another player, of which could have their wages used to improve the first team and try and nudge the club back towards a Europa League spot.

The Saints fans here in the Transfer Tavern admit they would bet all their money on the Romanian footballer leaving the club this summer.
