Sunderland are entrenched in their seemingly annual relegation battle and we here in the Transfer Tavern feel that this season it could be too much to ask for them to survive, despite their history for great escapes.

This could see the club embark on a massive overhaul of players in the summer, with a number of players either opting to remain in the top flight with a new team, or simply because the club don’t feel they have what it takes to get them back up.

Although there could be yet another great escape for the Black Cats that sees them survive, either way, there are a number of players at the club that need to be axed from the ranks at the Stadium of Light.

Not only that but the fans will probably be happy to see the back of them after a miserable campaign on Wearside!

With that in mind, these are TWO Sunderland players that fans surely cannot wait to see axed in the summer…

WAHBI KHAZRI

It’s amazing what can happen in a year!

Last season the Tunisian was one of the players that help to save the club and was there in their time of need, after arriving as a saviour in January.

But fast-forward a year and he’s very rarely featured under Moyes. In fact, when he does, he shows very minimal effort to any real hunger for the game. The fans will probably be thankful for the money to invest in players that’ll show the passion and desire to help the club progress.

DONALD LOVE

Yes, he’s another who only just arrived at the club in the last year. However, he’s proved to be somewhat disappointing in his fleeting appearances thus far and failed to capitalise when handed a chance.

The Scottish U21 international came with Paddy McNair in a package deal, though it hasn’t worked out for the former Man United man and his time should be up at the Stadium of Light this summer.
