2 things that will decide Southampton v Swansea on Saturday

Neither Southampton or Swansea fans in Transfer Tavern are particularly happy with their summer transfer business so far.

The two sides who clash on Saturday have had a window full of uncertainty as their best players seek moves away.

Southampton captain Virgil van Dijk has been heavily linked with a switch to Liverpool – it was on, it was off and now a deal is seemingly in limbo.

The Dutchman recently handed in a transfer request in order to force through a move to Anfield.

Meanwhile, Swansea skipper Gylfi Sigurdsson, who almost single-handedly dragged his side to Premier League safety is wanted by Everton.

The Swans are reportedly holding out for £50m.

Both new Saints boss Mauricio Pellegrino and Swansea’s Paul Clement have put the disruption to one side in order to focus on their opening league meeting.

We think these are the TWO things that will decide the game on Saturday…

PELLEGRINO STILL TAMPERING

To his own admission Mauricio Pellegrino is still considering his options in terms of formation and player personnel.

The Argentine is yet to assemble the perfect team to match his tactics and this unsettled side could play into Swansea’s favour.

Pellegrino says the Saints are ready, but the continued hostile changes suggest otherwise.

Tammy Abraham

The Chelsea loanee was simply prolific for Bristol City in the Sky Bet Championship last season, and if he can translate that form into the Premier League, the Swans won’t be short of goals.

Abraham will be a constant nuisance for the Saints defence and will capitalise on any mistakes that they may make.

Our landlord predicts that Abraham will have a major influence on this match.
