Southampton fans in the tavern are quietly content that their side is still unbeaten this season in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pellegrino is satisfyingly meeting the fans’ expectations with three Premier League games under his belt with him yet to be beaten; the Argentine has seen his side pick up five points this season with two draws and a 3-2 win over West Ham which really thrilled the St Mary’s faithful.
The Transfer Tavern’s landlord is not so easily pleased and he has pointed to Southampton’s transfer window in stating that the club may not have been as proactive in the transfer market as they should have been and he has spent some time after hours really assessing the Saints’ business and if anything should have been done differently.
His thoughts, as always, has stimulated the Saints in the Tavern and they are very interested in what our landlord has to say. He always comes out with some very good points and he has again produced some thought provoking theories on transfer window mistakes that Pellegrino and Southampton may live to regret.

Not selling van Dijk
Our landlord cannot for the life of him understand why Southampton have held on to Virgil van Dijk.
The Saints captain wants to leave the club and has made that obvious, it was time to cash in and get rid of a player who now has the power to really upset the harmony of the squad within weeks of the new season.
Whilst the Southampton fans don’t like to hear this, the ones in the Tavern agree with our landlord and they wish the dispute was settled much earlier in the summer.
Strengthening a rival
In selling Jay Rodriguez to West Brom, Southampton strengthened a Premier League rival that they will most probably be competing closely with this season.
The Saints recouped around £12million for the former Burnley man but our landlord believes that JayRod will come back to haunt the Saints as he is an obvious talent who was capped by England around four years ago.
The Southampton fans in the Tavern agree and they will remember Rodriguez fondly, even if he does come back and score against their beloved side.
