It’s a new season but the same old Arsenal much to the disbelief of the Gunners in the Transfer Tavern…

Arsene Wenger’s men have had a shocking start to the season by losing two of their first three games and the club simply looks in a crisis at the minute with issues occurring on and off the pitch.

The transfer window was an example of the calamity that is happening with Arsenal and although Alexandre Lacazette was purchased to boost their goal threat, the futures around many key players were still not addressed meaning the Gunners look like they will be struggling for the first half of this season.

Of course, the Arsenal fans in the Tavern are opinionated on this and they have been looking at Wenger’s transfer window and have really evaluated it which has led them to address two of the mistakes that their club could live to regret during their window.

It truly is an interesting debate and here are the Gunners’ fans thoughts on the transfer mistakes that Arsenal could live to regret…

Not Replacing Alexis With Lemar

It is obvious to the Gunners in the Tavern that Alexis Sanchez no longer wants to play for their club and they have come to terms with that. The issue now is that they do not know how Alexis will react when he next takes the field for the club.

Our landlord feels this was catastrophic from the Arsenal hierarchy to keep Alexis and not push through the £92million deadline day deal for Thomas Lemar which would have seen Alexis move to Manchester City for £60million, a good price for a player in the last year of his contract. He feels that Alexis will now add to the unrest at Arsenal and then the club will lose a real asset either for a cut price in January or for free in the summer.

No doubt the saga will continue and only time will tell how Alexis will carry himself for the rest of the season.

Not Signing A Centre Back

There is no doubt that Arsenal needed a defensive leader in this transfer window and yet again, Arsene Wenger struggled to get the centre back that will really command the Gunners’ defence.

Jonny Evans was the last name linked with the club but other than that no move was made, especially seeing that there was a certain Dutchman looking for a move from Southampton. Our resident Gunners just cannot believe that again, they have to endure a season with a make shift centre back which will probably see Nacho Monreal, a left back, as the most consistent centre back on their side’s team sheet.
