Chelsea fans by the jukebox here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping the club refuse to sell Nemanja Matic to Manchester United this summer.

Matic was expected to depart Stamford Bridge for Old Trafford, just as soon as Antonio Conte finalised a deal for a like-for-like replacement.

However, Chelsea have now completed the signing for Timeoue Bakayoko so the door would be open for Matic to leave.

But the deal is in doubt after Jose Mourinho’s side snatched Romelu Lukaku from under Chelsea’s noses.

Regardless of whether it’s Manchester United or not, the Serbia international is expected to leave the Blues this summer.

The 28-year-old played a role in helping the Blues win two titles in the space of three years but is now surplus to requirements at Chelsea.

SIGN A NEW STRIKER

Diego Costa was left at home as the rest of the Chelsea squad flew out to begin their pre-season tour of the US.

The Spaniard is searching for another club after being told by Antonio Conte that he is surplus to requirements.

The club should now turn their attention to Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre Emerick Aubemeyang.

SIGN VIRGIL VAN DIJK

The Blues could of course capitalise on Liverpool’s mishap and sign Virgil Van Dijk.

The Saints defender has been linked to a move to the Bridge.

Van Dijk, 26, has been a rock at the back for Southampton.

He could team up with Gary Cahill, David Luiz, and/or Antonio Rudiger  to make a formidable defence.
