The Chelsea fans are hiding out at the Transfer Tavern today – they don’t want to show their faces after their sides poor display against Burnley.

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side got their defence of the Premier League title off to the worst possible start on Saturday as they had two players sent off and lost 3-2 to Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

The Blues became only the second Championship winning side to lose their opening game of the following season, along with Leicester City the season before.

Chelsea’s start to the season isn’t made any easier as they have to travel to Wembley, the temporary home of Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham to face the team that finished runners up behind them last season.

A win is an absolute must for the champions or else they face zero points out of a possible six which could lead to them having as poor of a season as they had during the 2015/16 campaign.

On that note, here is the starting 11 that Conte must field to beat Spurs at Wembley on Sunday.

Thibaut Courtois

One of the best keepers in the world today, Thibaut Courtois is an obvious choice for Antonio Conte especially against a side with the fire power that Tottenham have.

Antonio Rudiger

Chelsea’s new boy had a debut to forget against Arsenal in the Community Shield and a Premier League debut to forget to boot.

He’s still a good player with plenty of time to develop but Chelsea have paid a lot of money for him so he will be expected to put in big performances in games against the likes of Tottenham.

David Luiz

Our landlord isn’t a fan of David Luiz but his inconsistecies aside, he does have his days.

At times he can be a threat from set-pieces and following on from an admittedly impressive season last time out, Conte will definitely be picking him for this game.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Nicknamed Dave by his Chelsea teammates, Cesar Azpilicueta evolved into a centre-back last season and with Gary Cahill missing the game through suspension he will have to play there again.

He hasn’t got the aerial prowess that the likes of Cahill and Rudiger have but his pace and reading of the game will serve the Blues back line well.

Victor Moses

Victor Moses didn’t start again Burnley and our landlord is struggling to see why.

His influence last season since adapting to play as a right wing-back to Chelsea’s success was incredible.

He even had a good game in Chelsea’s failed Community Shield efforts against Arsenal, scoring Chelsea’s only goal.

Get him back into the side to get some experience within the eleven on the pitch.

N’Golo Kante

One of the best central midfielders in the world.

He covers every blade of grass across the 90 minutes and can be an absolute nightmare for teams to play against, they just don’t get any time on the ball when he is around.

Kante will have a big role to play in any potential result Chelsea will get.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Missing the opening game of the season through injury, Tiemoue Bakayoko will need to adapt to life in the Premier League very quickly given Chelsea’s poor start.

He has been described as the next Yaya Toure and if this proves to be true, Conte will surely be hoping for a stand out performance from one of his new summer signings.

He’s certainly capable.

Marcos Alonso

One of the few players to have an ok game against Burnley.

Marcos Alonso seemingly came out of nowhere last season to become on of Chelsea’s most important players.

He fits in perfectly with the 3-4-3 formation and has the ability to be the difference maker in the game against Spurs.

Pedro

Not that Willian had a bad game against Burnley, far from it actually but it is likely that Eden Hazard will be fit to play against Pochettino’s side and Pedro offers something a bit different.

He’s not too pacey but his technical and passing ability can cut open the best of defences in a split second.

Alvaro Morata

Our landlord isn’t sure about Alvaro Morata.

Yes he scored on his Premier League debut but any striker worth his salt should have scored that goal, a free header a couple of yards out.

He showed quality in his movement however and Chelsea have the players to pick him out should he make a darting run into the box.

Eden Hazard

One of the best players in the world, end of.

Chelsea fans will be hoping Eden Hazard will be fit in time for the game against Spurs as he can literally be the difference between a win and a loss at times.

He is fast, powerful, strong and has a great shot on him.

Hazard will be a handful for Spurs all game long.
