What a season the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are experiencing from their club.

Antonio Conte has really transformed the Blues in his first season at Stamford Bridge and with some work still to do, our landlord believes that the club must be favourites to complete a league and cup double.

Two sides in North London are proving to be the biggest threat of derailing Chelsea with Spurs pushing Conte’s men hard for the title and Arsenal securing their place in the FA Cup final to face the Blues. Saying this, the Chelsea punters in the Tavern are very confident of their side seeing off the challenge from their rivals to secure the double.

Chelsea travel to Merseyside this weekend to face Everton in what could be a difficult fixture for Antonio Conte’s men. Although the Toffees’ form against the sides around and above them in the Premier League has been fairly average, our landlord still feels the Blues need to wary not to slip up in this one.

The last time these two sides met was November at Stamford Bridge in which Chelsea romped to an Eden Hazard inspired 5-0 win. A similar performance will no doubt delight our resident Blues fans who have outlined the XI they’d like to see take the field on Sunday.

GK: Thibaut Courtois

The Chelsea ‘keeper has been reliable when called upon this season and may well be needed here to deny the league top scorer and Belgium team mate, Romelu Lukaku adding to his impressive goal tally this season.

Courtois has become a fan favourite for the Blues fans in the Tavern, following impressively in the big shoes of former favourite, Petr Cech.

CB: Cesar Azpilicueta

Whilst the rest of Chelsea’s trio of centre backs got the recognition at the PFA awards, Azpilicueta sat unnoticed on the sidelines.

This is not to say the Spaniard has not been impressive this season, his performances in the back three have been vital to Chelsea’s position this year.

CB: David Luiz

Chelsea have regained an ever maturing David Luiz and the scepticism that surrounded the Brazilian’s return to Stamford Bridge has gone in a strong first season back at the club.

Our landlord has been shocked over the performances of David Luiz, especially following the claims from France that he was returning a worse defender.

CB: Gary Cahill

Conte’s on field leader in the push for the title this season, Cahill’s performances have really shown his quality this season.

A spot in the PFA Team of the Year was well deserved but there is no doubt Cahill has his sights on bigger team accolades come the end of the season.

RWB: Victor Moses

A man that has really flourished in the Conte reign at Chelsea, our landlord expects Moses to retain his spot at right wing back for this one.

The Blues fans in the Tavern have commented that Moses is the club’s most improved player, with many admitting they couldn’t imagine the impact he’d have for their team this season.

CM: N’Golo Kante

The Frenchman truly is a special talent and the PFA Player of the Year award was truly deserved in the eyes of the majority in the Transfer Tavern.

Remember, about 70% of the world is covered by water and the rest is covered by Kante!

CM: Nemanja Matic

The Serb has been fairly unnoticed due to the special performances from Kante this season, however a stunning goal at Wembley last weekend in the FA Cup semi final reminded the Chelsea fans in the Tavern what a talent Matic is.

Our landlord has been impressed with Matic’s recovery from a fairly shocking season last year.

LWB: Marcos Alonso

A player that truly epitomises Conte’s system, the wing-back’s work rate is vital in making the formation work and the money paid to Fiorentina for his services is currently looking like a bargain.

Alonso scored earlier in the season when these sides met and will be looking for another goal here this weekend.

RF: Pedro

The hardest worker in Chelsea’s front line, Pedro’s selflessness has gone down a treat with the Blues fans in the Tavern and they have really warmed to the Spaniard this season.

With a match up against Leighton Baines on the cards for Sunday, our landlord expects this to be an intriguing battle.

ST: Diego Costa

Blues fans here in the Transfer Tavern are constantly worried about this man going to China or back to Atletico Madrid, when all they want is Costa to fire them to the title.

The mood from the Tavern is that the Blues fans don’t mind if he leaves this season, as long as the replacement is coming from this Sunday’s opponents in the form of a certain Romelu Lukaku.
