So far Arsenal have had bids rejected for Lyon striker Alexander Lacazette and Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, though the Gunners here in the Transfer Tavern are confident the club can seal a deal for Lacazette.

Arsene Wenger appears determined to bolster his side to ensure a swift return to Champions League football next season.

Further offers are expected, with Lyon suggested to be holding out for close to £50m for Lacazette.

Last month the Frenchman revealed he would be open to a move to a club outside the Champions League places.

As for Lemar, a deal for the Monaco winger appears the less likely.

With Kylian Mbappe, Benjamin Mendy and Fabinho all being linked with moves away, Monaco are unwilling to relinquish all of their top stars.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s futures remain in doubt and it appears that both Lacazette and Lemar are being lined up as sufficient replacements.

AT THE BACK

Petr Cech will remain in goal for the Gunners.

Both Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina have been flirting with moves away and most Arsenal fans would argue that neither shot-stopper has proven they have safer hands than the experienced Cech.

As for the centre-backs – Rob Holding’s incredible performances towards the end of the season belied his youth and is almost a certainty for regular football next season.

Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi will pair up with the youngster to form a back three.

IN THE MIDDLE

On the judgement that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains at The Emirates, the Englishman just pips Hector Bellerin to the right-wing-back spot, with Sead Kolasinac to be given a chance on the opposite flank.

Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey appeared to be forming a solid partnership towards the end of the season, though with Santi Cazorla expected to return, the Spaniard is likely to replace the Welshman in the middle.
