The Gooners in the Transfer Tavern are still singing the praises of their side after Arsenal’s dramatic 4-3 fightback against Leicester City on Friday night.

Arsene Wenger’s super-subs Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud made the difference in the second half, despite Craig Shakespeare’s side taking the lead twice in the game.

The Gunners boss has a number of key decisions to make regarding his starting XI to play Stoke City this weekend.

Speculation of Alexis Sanchez attempting to force a move through to PSG have emerged after the Chilean tweeted from Paris. A return to the Arsenal side for the trip to Stoke now seems all the less likely.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s shoddy defensive display which saw them concede three goals was at times painful to watch – surely Wenger won’t maintain the same back three?

We’ve been debating and think the Frenchman must field this XI to see off Mark Hughes’ side on Saturday…

GK: PETR CECH

Conceded three against Leicester, but can hardly be blamed for the goals. Cech could really do with some support in front of him.

LWB: SEAD KOLASINAC

Achieved his first Premier League assist after setting up Danny Welbeck for Arsenal’s second. ‘The Beast’ really should be utilised on the left-wing rather than as a left-sided centre-back in the future though.

CB: ROB HOLDING

He was all over the place in the first-half against Leicester, but more composed in the second period. He should have less of a makeshift defence around him against Stoke.

CB: PER MERTESACKER

Mertesacker has undergone a bit of a renaissance in his career of late. The World Cup winner who was a rock for Arsenal in the FA Cup final against Chelsea missed the opening league game and the Gunners lacked leadership at the back.

CB: SHKODRAN MUSTAFI

The German was training all of last week, though it remains unclear whether he will be ready. The shambles at the back against Leicester proved that the Gunners are certainly not ready without Mustafi or Mertesacker.

RWB: ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN

The England star is far better equipped as a right-wing-back than on the left flank. He should replace Hector Bellerin who failed to make a serious impression against Leicester.

CM: GRANIT XHAKA

Needs a big season after a mediocre debut year for Arsenal. Arsenal fans seem to be content with Xhaka’s progress and Arsene Wenger clearly has faith in him after electing not to recruit a new defensive midfielder.

CM: AARON RAMSEY

The Welshman came on with Olivier Giroud and immediately changed the game. His first effort was saved by Kasper Schmeichel, but Ramsey got the better of the Dane just minutes later.

He needs to kick on again this season.

LF: MESUT OZIL

Talk of Ozil leaving the club has died down, perhaps because none of the top sides came in for the German. Nevertheless, he is hugely influential for Arsenal and will be as elusive as ever for Mark Hughes’ side.

RF: DANNY WELBECK

Welbeck bagged himself a goal against Leicester. The Arsenal fans will be expecting a far better return than his two goals in 16 matches last campaign.

ST: ALEXANDRE LACAZETTE

The Frenchman opened his account for Arsenal in some style with a goal in just 94 seconds. It wasn’t just his inch-perfect header that has Gooners salivating, but Lacazette also impressed in his link up play, mazy dribbles and off the ball movement.
