The less said about the start that West Ham have made this campaign the better here at the Transfer Tavern.

With the next five games vital in the Hammers’ season – up next is Burnley at home this Wednesday.

After a great draw at Anfield this past Sunday, could this be the start of the turn around for the east Londoners? Our West Ham punters here at the Tavern sure hope so.

With Burnley up next it could be a great chance for the Hammers to turn their season around and show the passion that we’ve all come to love about the club.

Sitting just above the relegation zone after an amazing season last term, it is easy to see why their punters are getting more and more fed up.

With some very poor improvements made in the summer – the club may look to rectify that come January in order to ensure a top half finish, and then pushing on from there in the next few seasons.

But for now, Bilic who is under heightened scrutiny, has it all to do with the squad he has got.

The Croat seems to have finally been able to put together a team that are at least putting some pressure on other teams but still look very shaky at the back.

Our landlord here in the Transfer Tavern thinks starting this West Ham XI will get a win against Burnley on Wednesday…

GK: DARREN RANDOLPH

The Irish shot stopper has been a great addition to the starting XI this season.

With Adrian being unreliable this season it was only a matter of time before he was benched.

Randolph has been superb making some very key saves since coming into the team.

The passion he shows has won over all our West Ham punters here at the tavern.

CB: WINSTON REID

Reid has been a solid defender in an otherwise shaky looking defensive unit.

He will be key as the Hammers look to move back up the table and obtain a good finish.
The New Zealand international has been here before and knows what to do in the situation the Irons are currently in.

CB: HAVARD NORDTVEIT

He’s had a mixed start to life at the London Stadium, but there is no denying that the Norwegian has the talent and he has showed it before at the highest level playing in the Champions League with Monchengladbach.

He is slowly getting there and with Kouyate absent due to injury it is important he fills the spot well.

CB: ANGELO OGBONNA

The Italian became a fans favourite last season for the passion he had for the club and how much he showed both on and off the pitch – he’s been a tad off the mark this campaign.
There is no denying the former Juventus defender has the ability and now would be a great time for him to come good for the Hammers.

LWB: AARON CRESSWELL

The full-back was sorely missed when he was injured at the start of the campaign and now he’s back fit he has made a big difference for Bilic and his army.
A key player in this side as they look to climb back up the table.

RWB: MICHAIL ANTONIO

May not be the best defensively but with the three sat at the back, it gives the England international a chance to push forward and use his ability further up the field which is apparent every time he steps onto the pitch

Scoring again against Liverpool, this time not with his head – showing he’s not just a one trick pony.

CDM: PEDRO OBIANG

The Spanish midfielder is finally getting his chance with Kouyate playing further back, and West Ham fans are thankful that he’s been given that chance.

The 24-year-old has taken on the opportunity with both hands and has been superb in an otherwise poor looking side – he’ll need to continue that form to help his side out, starting with Burnley.

CDM: MARK NOBLE

Criticised this season after the poor start he has made and the lack of ability he has had at times, miss placing important passes and even sat out a few games.
But if there is anyone at West Ham who can show the passion and desire needed to bring them out this situation they are in, it is Mr. West Ham himself – Mark Noble!

LW: DIMITRI PAYET

The star of the show last season, hasn’t been as great this season but he hasn’t been as bad as many feel he has.

It’s just that he’s had no-one to supply to this season, with no real striker taking charge at the top of the field.

In fact the French star has created the most chances in Europe this season.

The Hammers just need a fit and scoring striker to get on the end of the chances created.

RW: MANUEL LANZINI

Another player who was a stand out star as the Hammers went on o have a great season last time out.
Not quite lived up to the hype of last season but he’s not been getting the same supply he had done last term, it’ll come soon.

ST: ANDY CARROLL

Finally back fit and what great timing from the big man.

If he can keep fit, Carroll could be the most vital player as the Hammers surge up the table.

With Payet now having someone to supply for, this game at Burnley could be the best place for the Geordie to start his season and get scoring the vital goals his side needs.
