3 former strikers who Celtic fans would love to partner Leigh Griffiths

The Football Transfer Tavern has been full of talk about past players who could make a difference for the clubs that they used to play for.

Now the topic of conversation is Celtic, who have shown how dominant they can be in Scotland, as they just beat Rangers 5-1, but have also shown how vulnerable they can be against the best, after losing 7-0 to Barcelona.

They already have Leigh Griffiths who has been brilliant for them whenever he has played and Moussa Dembélé has impressed since coming in, but if they could be joined by one of Celtic’s old stars then that would surely be great for the club if it was the right player.

It won’t change anything in the real world but our punters are allowed to dream.

The landlord has put together a list of THREE former Celtic strikers who would do brilliantly if they were to come in and play alongside Leigh Griffiths.

Do you agree with these picks and who would be your dream striker to come back and play in the green and white? Let us know!

Henrik Larsson

One of Celtic’s best ever players, Henrik Larsson would definitely be a massive part of the current team if he was in his prime.

He could have walked into a lot of teams around Europe when he was playing he decided to stay with Celtic for seven years before joining Barcelona, and scored 174 goals in 221 games during his time at Celtic Park.

Celtic often do well in the league but struggle when it comes to European competition and Larsson’s quality would definitely help them to compete on the biggest stage.

Pierre Van Hooijdonk

The Dutchman played for a lot of different teams throughout his career but managed to keep a good goal scoring record for all of them.

One of the teams that he had his best spells with was Celtic, as he got 44 goals in 69 games over a two year period.

Van Hooijdonk’s style would compliment Leigh Griffiths’ a lot and if the pair interlinked then the opposition defenders would have a lot of difficulty in dealing with the pair.

John Hartson

John Hartson is often remembered for his time in the Premier League but the strong Welsh striker was also brilliant for Celtic.

He scored 88 goals in 146 games and offered the team so much more than the goals that he scored.

Having Griffiths and Moussa Dembélé playing off of John Hartson would be deadly, and would pose a massive threat to any team that came up against them.
