Arsenal are renowned for bringing youth players through the ranks and giving them opportunities in the first team – and our Gooners here in the Transfer Tavern love this philosophy!

Only last season we saw the emergence of a few talents, Alex Iwobi the most notable.

Despite their relative success, Arsene Wenger has been under constant pressure to spend money by the regular punters here in the Tavern over the past few seasons, in order to return Arsenal to a side capable of winning titles.

He obliged to some extent this summer, forking out a sizeable amount of money on Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi.

However, Wenger is still keen on giving youth a chance and therefore here are THREE hidden gems that our punters think you might be seeing more of in the coming years….

Stephy Mavididi

Yet to make the squad for the Arsenal first team, Mavididi is certainly a name to keep an eye on.

He was top scorer for the Gunners’ U21 team last season, helping them achieve promotion to division one.

The 18-year-old netted 17 times in 30 appearances.

The Congo DR born striker netted twice in the play-off final against Aston Villa in an emphatic 3-1 victory.

Mavididi also featured for England at the Under-17’s World Cup in 2015 and whilst he was unable to help guide England through the group stages, the experience will no doubt go a long way to aiding his development.

Despite the signing of Lucas Perez up front, if Mavididi scores as regularly this season as he did last time out, expect to see him called up to the Arsenal first team soon enough.

Marc Bola

Bola is an athletic left-back who helped guide the U18’s to the FA Youth Cup Semi-final last season.

The youngster who is a product of Arsenal’s Hale End academy also made 17 appearances for the U21 team last campaign which shows a remarkable amount of faith in the potential he has.

Bola’s finest individual moment came as he scored a cracking 25-yard screamer against Fulham in March.

His impressive form was rewarded with his first professional contract in April this year.

Monreal and Gibbs provide obvious competition for the promising full-back but don’t be surprised to see him make the step up in the next few years.

Vlad Dragomir 

Like Bola, Dragomir’s fine form last season landed him a professional contract with the Gunners in April 2016.

The Romanian is a left-footed playmaker who signed from ACS Poli Timisoara.

He is blessed with great vision and superb technical skill as he quickly progressed in his home country and was named as captain of the U16’s Romanian National team.

For the Gunners, the midfielder will hope to continue impressing in the U18’s and U21’s.

It may take a while before you see Dragomir in any of Arsene Wenger’s teamsheets but remember the name because this kid could be something special.

Bonus mention goes to U12 player Omari Hutchinson who has already got Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern salivating at his potential.

It might be another decade until we see him, but keep your eyes peeled!
