3 Liverpool targets FSG and Klopp should be discussing ahead of January

Reds fans here in the Tavern are becoming more and more reliant upon the January transfer window, as the only thing that can save them now is fresh legs.

Liverpool Football Club, a team who many have grown to love over the years.. unless you’re a United fan that is. Having won the second most amount of trophies in English football, things have dried up in recent times as they still lay and wait for a Premier League triumph since its resumption. Having come so close under manager Brendan Rodgers, they seem to have dropped off the pace ever since as a lack of consistency is at fault for the disaster.

So far this season Liverpool fans have endured even more heartbreak as they continue to underachieve in the form of a numerous amount of sluggish results. Sitting in 9th position with only half of league leaders Man City’s points, its beginning to look like even a Champions League place is becoming out of reach. However, they are currently placed first in their respective Champions League group as that looks to be their only hope of a trophy in what is a very big long shot.

Many fans and Pundits believe that one thing is to blame for the lacklustre start made to the season, that is the inability to deal with the source of defensive problems in the summer months. As Klopp failed to secure the services of a central defender which was the only real aim for the Merseyside team. So with their pre-season targets having not been met, chances of a trophy were slim with a very top heavy side based on attack.

So with the January transfer window edging ever closer, here’s a look at 3 possible signings that could make their way to Anfield…

Leon Goretzka

The 22-year-old German international plays his football for German side 04 Schalke in the Bundesliga, operating in a central midfield role with the ability to move forward and create.

The versatile central midfielder has been the subject of an awful lot of interest, but one club in particular who appeared in reports are Liverpool. As the Premier League side look to add some quality and potential to their midfield ranks with the possible departure of James Milner leaving space for the man.

If Liverpool can pull this off then they will be getting a top quality midfielder with the promise to become one of the world’s best.

After already becoming a regular in what is a quality packed German midfield, it looks as if he really is something special. Having played 8 games so far this season, he’s managed 4 goals from a midfield position as he looks to deliver a well-rounded display.

After seeing how impressive Emre Can has been since joining from the Bundesliga, why can’t another German make the switch to the Premier League to impress for the Reds?

Virgil Van Dijk

The out of favour Dutch international has only managed the 3 games for the Saints so far this season, among speculation of an eagerly anticipated exit for the defender.

However, the defender who was in talks with Liverpool in the summer somewhat controversially was put to a halt, as the Reds were forced to apologize for their pursuit of the big man after apparently illegally approaching the defender.

However, times have changed since then as Southampton have had some time to think about the possibility of a sale, with it now apparently believed that the Saints may be forced into selling the man.

With the likelihood being the sale of the Dutch defender, Liverpool have been reported in the Daily Star to have apparently reignited their interest in the defender as they make him their main transfer target.

Jonathan Tah

The young German international plays his football for Bundesliga side Bayern Leverkusen, the same team formerly of Emre Can. At the young age of 21, he’s already made 3 appearances for the German national side and has become one of the first names on the team sheet for his domestic club.

After being tipped by numerous sites as the future star of German football, it is understandable that the youngster has an awful lot of potential to live up to.

With the one position with a void needing to be filled being the central defender position, it looks as if for both the long term and short term future he could acquire himself a starting spot at the Premier League club.

As Southampton and Liverpool have had problems in coming to the agreement of the transfer for Van Dijk, it looks as if they can look to this future star to fill the void.

So Liverpool fans, would you like the idea of signing any of these 3 men?
